NOTE: Though they
strive for uniformity in their operating schedule, severe weather, fires and other
unforeseen circumstances can sometimes cause the temporary closure of post offices,
or alter lobby hours beyond the scope of the above U.S. Postal Service holidays.
Most U.S. post offices shorten their retail lobby hours on Christmas Eve and close
at noon. Regular mail delivery is unaffected by this change and is made as usual
on December 24.
In most locations, when an additional surcharge is paid, Express
Mail deliveries can be made even on Sundays and the official U.S.P.S. holidays listed
above.
